Therapeutic Laser for Pain Management
Is your pet in pain? Does your pet have arthritis? Back Pain? Neck Pain? Degenerative Disc Disease? Tendonitis? Ear infections? Wounds? Sprains or muscle pulls?
Laser therapy decreases pain, increases blood flow to the treated area, and makes healing quicker. Ask us how Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) can be used to help your pet regain a better quality of life!!! The therapeutic laser treatments are short, non-painful, and have no known side effects in their 30 years of use in human medicine. Although laser therapy started out primarily as an alternative, holistic, modality; it is now becoming more mainstream in the Veterinary world.
Therapeutic lasers work by supplying energy to the body in the form of non-thermal photons of light. The body is able to absorb this external energy on a cellular level and transform light energy into chemical energy, which the body uses to accelerate the normal healing rate of tissue for a wide range of ailments.
Each painful area is treated for a few minutes. The number of times that the pet needs to be treated depends on the individual patient. For a case where pain management is required for trauma, a few sessions will be all that is needed. For chronic conditions, like arthritis or neck pain, we generally start off with two treatments twice a week for six treatments, then reassess what is needed. Some pets require maintenance therapy every week to every month. We find the lowest frequency that helps to keep the pet comfortable. Other patients only require the initial six treatments.
The treatments are non-painful, and the pets often just relax or go to sleep.
